Interview Preparation: Give me an example of a time that you felt you went above and beyond the call of duty at work. Sample 2 – Mid Level
There was never a situation that I have descended to save humanity from destruction. Duty is extremely sacred word for Indian civilization. Everything we do is duty bound. So, I will say “beyond the responsibilities of my job title”. I feel that it is about not only completing my work to perfection but also the whole project going the right way. So, if the project is not going the right way – I shall always be available to put in extra effort.
In one of my earlier projects – Our engineer responsible for quality control left. We had no one who could have taken that role. New hiring was frozen so taking approval and getting a new hire was almost 6 months away. This is where I volunteered to take that responsibility along with my design work. I learned overtime for 3 weeks, then handled both responsibilities. I ensured that project timelines and deliverables were not impacted due to this situation. I was given a recognition from our director for this.
